Welcome to Austin Academic Family Medicine (Blackstock Family Health Center), a medical facility sponsored by Austin Medical Education Programs. The Blackstock Family Health Center is staffed by 8 Board-Certified Family Practice teaching physicians and 21 Resident physicians who are pursuing 3 years of postgraduate training in order to become Board Certified Family Physicians. In addition, the clinic is staffed with a full complement of nursing and office personnel.
The teaching faculty consists of 8 Board-Certified Family Physicians, a psychologist, a social worker, and a Doctor of Pharmacy.
What is a Family Doctor?
Family physicians specialize in primary and preventive care for people of all ages. Training in Family Practice includes internal medicine, pediatrics, adolescent medicine, psychiatry, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, geriatrics, and community medicine. This educational background enables the family doctor to offer continuing and comprehensive care to all their patients, regardless of gender or age.
